Pileated Woodpeckers prefer a log to feed from instead of a suet feeder, if you do use a suet feeder use one with a long tail board.

Pileated Woodpeckers can be very shy till they get to know you, one tried to land on a log while I was putting food at, both of us had a bit of a startle.
