Catharus ustulatus
There were more beetles in this panorama but one moved and another walked off, I have tried others when one beetle starts walking and climbs over all the other beetles and they all start hissing and all walk out of the picture. I would get 12 -18 of them when moth trapping, I just put them in a bin for the day since light isn't good for them, then when night came I would put them out on the deck table and watch them fly off one at a time, they climb pretty quick, there good flyers but lousy landers. They crash land ending up on there back then have to flip themselves then they take off again.
